Annual Iceplant is native to South Africa but grows well in the western United States. These wildflowers are drought tolerant and perfect for a hard-to-water area of the garden, or can be used as a striking cover crop. A kaleidoscope of bright daisy-shaped flowers sit atop low growing succulent-like foliage to provide vibrant beauty and purpose to the garden.
Premium packaging with reusable zipper and complete planting instructions make this great for gift giving or seasonal storage.
Details:
Iceplant will need a space that is free of vegetation and weeds, with at least 6 hours of sunlight a day and a well-draining soil. This flowering plant is cold hardy and grows well in dry climates, making it ideal for gardeners in the western United States or at higher altitudes.
How to Grow:
Iceplant seeds can be started indoors 4-6 weeks prior to your last spring frost date. They can also be sown outdoors in the later spring when temperatures have begun to rise, and the danger of frost has passed, at a rate of 1 ounce per 100 square feet. Choose an area that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight a day and evenly scatter the seeds on the soil surface. Gently rake the seeds into the top ¼ inch of soil. Expect blooms in 65-75 days.
